Reel Sonic Recording Studio is Scarborough’s newest recording facility and is quickly becoming one of the best facilitated studio in the North Yorkshire Area. Our studio has been built with one intention. To satisfy all of your recording needs. We are equipped to handle your project from beginning to end. We have some of the best regional and local trained musicians at our fingertips, so if your music is lacking that extra edge, we can maximise your sounds to its fullest. We have experience in many areas of the recording industry, and have worked with recording artists and bands, from near and far, composing radio jingles and commercials, television/movie soundtracks and scores, for promos. Mixing Studio

Our facility is a state-of-the-art music and post production studio with a large control room, equipped with a DDA -D Series 40 Ch Desk, Running Pro Tools 12, Logic Pro x Tannoy System and PMC's mains a multitude of new and vintage outboard gear, as well as a collection of vintage synths, with full Rednet / Dante routing capabilities

Microphone Booth

Our Microphone Booth consists of an atmospheric acoustically treated vocal booth perfect for capturing Vocals  and video booth recordings

Live Room 1

Is perfect for Recording Drums with its own unique realistic reverb its also a great space for guitars and small amps

Live Room 2

Consists of an Acoustic treated room with a Hammond organ and Lesley speaker. A versatile room that caters to live tracking, production and writing, and is perfect for sessions that require more of a lounge-type control room

Live Room 3

Is a fully acoustic treated with sound absorbing materials to create a dry sound .This room is great for drum recording instruments, and vocal recording

Live Room 4

Here we have a wood treated instrument room ideal for acoustic guitars and String Ensembles

Recreation Room

Our kitchen lounge area is great for winding down after a productive day, with free Tea & coffee, There’s also a spacious bathroom and lots of local food outlets around the area

Reception & Lounge

Our reception and lounge area has plenty of comfortable seating and a TV making it an ideal space to relax and can easily accomodate a full band. There is also an covered outside smoking shelter

Our History

OCTOBER 2006
ten years of recording, producing, mixing and mastering
In the mid 1990s, Simon Coles began building a recording studio at Durham Place, in Scarborough, under the name Sonic Moles, which attracted many artists from around the region. In 2007, Si Vooght became the owner, the studio was changed and Sonic Moles began moving in a new direction.
OCTOBER 2011
SONIC MOLES BECOMES A PRODUCTION TEAM
After meeting local producers and writers, such as Kista, Joy Bacerdo, and Bri Johnson, Si Vooght felt the best way to move the studio forward was to branch out more into co-production with local acts.
MAY 2014
THE SONIC MOLES WELCOME MIKE ALVES TO THE TEAM
The Moles’ humble beginnings were coming to an end and in 2019 Si Vooght decided to pass the reins of the studio to Mike Alves, who, with Bri Johnson, is writing the next chapter of the studio. With a massive rebuild and equipment installation. ReelHarmony is now pleased to present ReelSonic Studio.

FIVE YEARS OF RESHAPING, REALLIGNING, PLANNING AND REFURBISHING
The journey hasn’t been easy, but there’s been a lot of fun and good times along the way. We have met some great people, worked on a lot of projects and helped a variety of talented musicians and artists take their next steps forwards. All of these experiences have helped us shape a tight network of local and regional talented writers and musicians, in order to be able to offer some of the best services in the area.

Brian Johnson
Engineer / Producer
Enthusiast Brian Johnson has been making music for over 15 years, with a leaning toward the urban, HipHop, B genre, Brian has made over 700 instrumentals and beats, has worked alongside people from Pinewood Studios, Bill Nighy & The One Show, He's done music for national venues and videos, Brian is sure to bring a spark of inspirations to any recording session
Mike Alves
Producer / Owner
With over 30 years in the music industry, production, coordination and recording, Mike started working in the music industry in the 90s, working with major artists from around the country. After over a decade of running a recording studio and bringing up his children, once his kids were grown, he felt it time to relocate his studio to a less hectic town in North Yorkshire
Marcus McInerney
Composer / Producer
Marcus is a classically trained, Scarborough based, multi-instrumentalist. With an ABRSM Grade 8 in Music Theory and also on Violin, Saxophone and Piano. He has been involved in many ensembles and bands. A personal highlight was working for Neville Staple and his band The Specials. Marcus’ ability to sight-read music manuscript means we can offer you music scoring services
Earl Christopher Dawkins
Musician / Producer
Earl Christopher Dawkins Is a musician and producer who has worked with Corrine Bailey Rae, Lonnie Liston Smith, Nightmares On Wax, Jimi Tenor, L.S.K. Rhianna, David Holmes (on Oceans 11 and Buffalo Soldiers) Finley Quaye & other various gifted artists over the past 25 years. Chris’s is a very blessed & talented guitarist who is available for session work
